Dr Manjusha is a Kathak dance aficionado and started learning Kathak (Benaras gharana) since the age of 10 under the guidance of Smt. Rekha Nadgaouda ( disciple of Pt. Gopi Krishnaji )and later under Guru. Smt Maniiri Karulkar (disciple of Guru Smt Maneesha Sathe). She has also had the opportunity to receive blessings of Guru Shri Pandit Birju Maharajji and Guru Vidushi Saswati Senji and to learn under their guidance.
Every year we organize a recital where there is an opportunity to learn, collaborate and perform to showcase their talent. Also, students get to perform in numerous community events throughout the year.
Dr Manjusha started Kathak Beats to promote the rich heritage of Kathak in US and to help children connect to the Indian values and culture with the stories enacted through dance. She believes that the drift towards “Bollywood dancing “ is eroding the basic foundation of classical dance today.
Kathak Beats is dedicated to teaching authentic dance and helping achieve perfection through providing an understanding of Taal, rhythm, graceful movements, right posture, and expressions. Kathak Beats sole purpose is to help students master this art form through a structured certification programme. Students benefit greatly from her unique approach to teaching, during their training and in preparation for their performances.
Certification is provided by “Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya ” a premier institute dedicated to the promotion of Indian Dance. The certification is valid globally and allows students to pursue advanced graduation opportunities.
